Simple minimalist decor and beautifully plated food. This seems to be the rule of thumb for cafés as of late, and Little Collins does it all in flying colors perfect for a very happy brunch and two very happy customers.

We couldn't decide what we wanted and ended up sharing three plates between two, which turned out to be the perfect amount of fuel to last until a late dinner. I'd recommend trying the Smash and the Sweet Uncle Fred, both of which seem to be all-round customer favorites.

The Breakdown

The SMASH ✰✰✰✰✰ [avocado and feta mash on toast with chili flakes and pepitas] : YES, YES + YES!! I have a hard time justifying spending on dishes that could easily be thrown together at home, but the avo toast was worth every penny. In both texture and flavor the seasoning was the perfect complement to the fresh avocados and yummy toast. Would definitely not mind having this again.

Bacon Ragu ✰✰✰✰ [w. poached eggs]: I didn't feel that extra special something to give this dish that fifth star, but it did hit the spot. One can never really go wrong with a tri-factor of bacon, mushrooms, and egg.

The Sweet Uncle Fred ✰✰✰✰ [toasted banana bread with ricotta, strawberries, honey, and toasted almonds]: Tasty and incredibly gorgeous with the fresh berries. Just two minor wishes - the banana bread (I LOVE banana bread) could've been a bit moister and the very good ricotta was slightly overpowered by the thick honey. All in all still a delicious choice.

Flat White ✰ [w. a tiny biscuit on the side!]: I've been spoiled by all the incredible coffee in New York, and though the flat white was good it also isn't on my list of favorites. However, I do have to say the latte art was great and the tiny biscuit (cookie?) was even better. Not really sure what that tiny round thing was that came with my coffee, but I have to say - it was fantastic.
