The NYC Ballet, Tchaikovsky, and Lincoln Center stole my heart at the recent rendition of Swan Lake. I wasn't quite sure what to wear to the ballet, especially given the slight chill in the air and the timing of the matinee performance, which seemed to call for less formal attire than the nighttime showing.
In the end, the ballet - which I believe to be a celebration of humanity and femininity - was my inspiration. One of my favorite parts of the female body is the shoulders: strong, sexy, and completely under-rated. That's probably why I love off-shoulder designs so much; they're just the right amount of sexy without being too over-the-top. And this off-shoulder dress seemed perfect to pay homage to the traditional exquisite, shoulder-baring costumes of the swans.
